Résumé

Les auteurs de cet entretien ont coordonné un ouvrage collectif Religion et colonisation. XVIe-XXe siècle, où vingt-trois contributeurs, historiens de périodes et d’aires culturelles diverses, élucident ce lien mal connu entre processus de colonisation et dimension religieuse. L’entretien porte sur le contexte mémoriel de la parution du livre, traite du nouveau regard porté sur les acteurs de l’histoire coloniale, religieux ou enseignants notamment, et sur la contribution des spécialistes de l’histoire religieuse à ce champ de connaissance en friches.

Abstract

Beyond good and evil : Religion, schools, and colonization. Interview.

Dominique Borne and Benoit Falaize coordinated a collective volume Religion et colonisation, XVIe-XXe siècle, in which twenty-three authors, historians of diverse periods and culture areas, contribute to understanding the poorly understood link between processes of colonization and the religious dimension. The interview opens up the memorial context of the appearance of the book and suggests a new look at actors in colonial history - clerics and teachers notably - and at the contribution of specialists of religious history to this fallow field of knowledge.
